DID YOU SEE THE BEAUTIFUL SILVER...
We had the most beautiful display from Clint Orms Silversmiths and Engravers at the April show. They are the creators of some of the most distinctive and beautiful belt buckles and silver artistry in the world. We are lucky enough to have him again at NCHA Days. Mention this blurb to Glenn and receive a ½ price alligator belt with the order of any new buckle. "Like" Clint Orms Engravers and Silversmiths on Face Book with a message including your WSCHA member number and they will mail you a free Silk Wild Rag. Custom designs are available, see his great work at www.ClintOrms.com

NEWS and NOTES
Well the big show trend continues! The April show, is historically small due to the overlap with the Super Stakes show and on some occasions will lose money. However Western States board feels strongly that we need to have this show for the weekend cuttters, as not everyone can make the trek to Ft. Worth. So we press on regardless, and our members must like that because it was a pretty good size show this year! The show might have been an after thought for some, because LOTS of horses showed up without reservations, but that's OK we will take them all! We do apologize for the shortage of shavings though as we tried to be efficient and order on the light side based on reservations... oops!!
The one thing we can't apologize for though is having rerun cattle in the $3000NH and the $5000NH/NP class on Sunday. It seems that no matter how much we harp, and we do harp.... on people to get your Sunday entries in on Saturday, some don't/won't. This is critical when you have a 4 hr turnaround time for cattle and you have to order loads of 80-100 to make the numbers work. This was the case in April as we had over 25 new entries on Sunday morning that caused the shortage. Sorry 'bout that but ....
OK, off the soapbox and on to the next show!!
NCHA/AQHA Weekend
Norris-Penrose, Colorado Springs, Co
May 31, - June 1, 2nd
Folks this is going to be a fun one! We are going to have FRESH CATTLE ALL DAY. This will let you get a jump on qualifying for the 2014 Western Nationals by riding in a class you don't normally ride in because of reruns. AND, we will have circuit awards of Fabulous Racks!
We will have a vendor alley with trailers, saddles, chaps, silversmith, photographer and more.. We will have a crazy hat contest with a two $25 dollar cash prizes to the winners. Just dress up any 'ole hat, not necessarily a western one and parade around convincing Cheryl, the show secretary that yours is special!!! We will have a BBQ on Saturday night and I am sure the weather will be beautiful......
You better get your reservations in EARLY!!! Especially for your hotel, I am being told it's a busy time of year. You need to make your reservations before May 9th to get the best rate, and can always cancel them if something happens. Please mention Western States; LaQuinta Inn 719-527-4788 or Best Western -719-576-2371
